Please describe the organization of your group – which branches of dentistry/medicine do you focus on? How many employees? What is the history of your company? How long have you been doing EMS?

Santy Soedja: Founded by Hendrik Fonda in 1971, Fondaco Dental, over a long and distinguished history, has become the undisputed leading provider of service excellence to the dental professions in Indonesia, representing the World’s top manufacturers of dental equipment and consumable materials supplies.
 

Growing from small kiosk in China Town, we emerged into an office in sky-rise building in one of the prestigious business district area in West Jakarta. Our core values are service driven and we aim to become one stop solutions for premium manufacturers of dental equipment, supplies and consumable while committed to education and training for both clients and staffs. We are constantly upgrading ourselves and customers with innovations and technology while everything moves forward to digital dentistry.
 

Currently Fondaco Indonesia has a total of 120 employees with Jakarta as Head Office, Surabaya as Branch Office and Fondaco Singapore as sister company under different management and territory. We have been EMS sole distributor in Indonesia since 1990s.

What challenges do you face in your country? How have you overcome them?

Santy Soedja: Indonesian dentists are satisfied with good enough products and very price sensitive. They prefer to go for cheaper unit as long it has the same function. So, it’s a constant battle to change the mindset.
 

Is there any innovative promotion / marketing activity related to EMS products in the past year that you were really happy with? 

Santy Soedja: We regularly run Swiss Dental Academy program with regional speakers for private dentists and dental students in universities. We also promote GBT concept in exhibitions, show how it works and once the dentists are interested (some purchased as well), we invite them for SDA program. We also often promote in our social media.

How do you see the Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) in your country? How do you use it in your country and how is this concept supporting your daily business?

We think it is very good concept. Ever since the concept was introduced, we promote it in exhibitions, over social media and whatsapp messages. Not many dentists know about GBT yet, so it is still in the long run. Our planning on-hold, once the users have gone through Swiss Dental Academy program; we certify them as GBT Clinic and revamp their clinic with the branding and marketing material.
 

Tell us your opinion about the Swiss Dental Academy?

Santy Soedja: It is a very good tool to boost up our sales, it creates new users and KoLs. Not only it introduces the correct concept of how to apply proper scaling, air polishing and prophylaxis treatment as the program run by dental professionals, but also opens dentists mind on how to market and sell their clinic more with “No Pain” concept to their patients and bring in more referrals.

How do you see the future of dentistry in your country over the next 3-5 years?

Santy Soedja: It is currently hard to predict since COVID-19 pandemic hits every sector badly. But, once the situation is reversed, dentistry will go beyond even further as people are more aware with health issue. More and more people are willing to spend more to look younger, beautiful and at the same time, maintain their health. So, there is hope.
